Texas wines score big at TEXSOM International Wine Awards
Of the roughly 160 wines from Texas that scored medals, 23 took home gold at the 31st TEXSOM International Wine Awards.
The annual wine competition drew more than 3,600 entries from around the globe, with more than 200 coming from the Lone Star State. The event, which was judged by about 70 sommeliers and other wine professionals, took place Feb. 23-24 at the Irving Convention Center.
Texas Monthly, the presenting sponsor of the awards, also named nine Best in Show Texas Wines. Those wine are: Bending Branch Estate Tannat 2012, Brennan Vineyards Super Nero 2012, Duchman Family Winery Montepulciano Oswald Vineyard 2012, Haak Vineyards Texas Madeira Blanc du Bois 2012 Dessert Wine, Lewis Wines Round Mountain Vineyard Reserve 2011, Llano Estacado Viviano 2010, Messina Hof Cabernet Franc Barrel Reserve 2012, Pedernales Cellars Viognier 2014, and Perissos Vineyards Aglianico 2013.
